The Core of Our Existence
You can generate more effective and powerful movement when you have a solid core. It creates stabilization and proportional strength. Everything works better when the core takes center stage.
The Burn and Shake
Movement, performed in a controlled range of motion, incorporates more muscle fibers and muscles approach a threshold. You will surpass that threshold and start to feel the body changing- that's the burn and shake. Embrace it!
Small Moves for Big Results
We use small, controlled movement to tap into the stabilization muscles, which quickly tighten and tone. We use your own body weight, light dumbbells, and the barre to execute our exercises with power and precison. Our classes are low-impact by design and in high demand for its ability to energize and define the body.
Get into the Flow
A an energetic warm-up starts the class and begins the caloric burn. We move to the barre for thighs and gluts, as well as three sets of abs that will knock your grippy socks off! Between intervals, we stretch while strengthing in yoga postures Our intervals are matched to the perfect soundtrack, giving your workout a rythym and a cadence to THRIVE to!
BARRETECH. is recruiting talented individuals who demonstrate enthusiasm for barre and a desire to inspire others. A background in dance or one year of experience teaching group fitness is required. Follow your passion for fitness and become a barreTECH. We are also looking for dedicated people to join our work-study program in exchange for free classes.

Our Alexandria studio is 3,000 square feet with two exercise rooms, a lovely lounge, lobby/check-in, and two restrooms for each studio. One of those restrooms includes a shower, towel service, and vanity area. We ask that you make a 15 minute reservation here for free. Our entrance is located in the parking lot at the corner of Mount Vernon Avenue and E Uhler Avenue.* We're right next to Cheestique- the best place to meet up with friends afterwards or you're welcome to enjoy a cup of tea in our lounge.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need to be a dancer to take class?
Definitely not. We teach you the basic ballet techniques and postures in class. We recommend that you start with a Barre: 60 class or Barre: Basics class to learn the foundations of our technique. The classes are limited to 12 people or less, so there is plenty of opportunity for the teacher to monitor you in class for the first time. The teacher will also review modifctaions with you if needed and taking a break occasionally is okay. Be sure to hydrate at least every 15 minutes in class if not more often.
I havent worked out in a while, is it okay to still take class?
Absolutley. It is great that you decided to begin a regiment with us. The teacher will review the class with you and make modifctaions if needed and you'll take more breaks at first and that's okay. Be sure to hydrate before class and at least every 8 minutes in class. We also offer private sessions and small group sessions. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
What do I need to do to get started?
Click on "Find Classes" to sign up via Mind Body- our management software. You will set up a profile and purchase a class or package after creating a log in. Your recent purchase will be applied to your account and we ask that you make a reservation.
What do I need to bring and wear?
Please wear form fitting clothes. Pants should be full or capri length. Gentlemen can wear gym pants or basketball shorts. We sell bottled water for $1 and provide towels.
Please keep cell phones on silent because the storage cubbies are located in each exercise space for safety. Give yourself the tuck time! Please arrive 10 minutes early if you are new to the studio in order to meet the teacher and discuss expectations.
What is your cancellation policy?
Commitment equals results, so we ask that you cancel your class at least 3 hours before the start of class to allow the next person a position in the room. A cancellation less than 3 hours prior to the start of class will result in a forteiture of the class. $10 are charged to the holders of monthly unlimited contracts that cancel late.
How does the waitlist list work?
Please "Sign up" for a class with "0 Open" and add yourself to the waitlist. You will be automatically moved and notified via Mind Body that you made it into class. Please consider yourself confirmed at this point. Let us know if you recieve notice too late and we will give that class back.
What happens if I'm late?
You will not be permitted to class after 10min (from the start of class) for safety reasons. Your body will not be warm enough to execute the exercises safely. The late arrival will result in a forfeiture of that class. Please email email@example.com or call 703.299.0259 if you have an emergency.
I am really fit, will this be a good workout for me?
Indeed. The workout is such a unique blend of sciences that your body will experience a "wake up call." Barre is the perfect balance to running, cycling, and crossfit. You'll find a Sweet Spot for barre.
How many time per week should I take class to see results?
We suggest that you take classes 3-4 times per week to get the best of what BARRETECH. has to offer. Incorporating or adding our cardio class (Burn:60) each week plus a healthy diet will accelerate results.
