A LOVE LETTER from Owner, Amy B.  
In the last several months, I have maintained our current location on a month to month basis in anticipation of relocating the studio to a better home.  Due to prolonged negotiations and the current status of our lease per our landlord , we have been slated to move out and stop services/classes at 12pm on June 30th, 2017 at 2409 Mount Vernon Avenue.
This message has been difficult to write and deliver because I’ve been tirelessly working to secure a new, better fitness home for BARRE TECH. and its tribe up to this morning.  This is all technical, I know, and a bummer to hear and feel.  But I am obliged to inform that BT does not have a new home yet and we will complete and stop services at 12pm on Friday, June 30th, 2017 in Alexandria.  
So, my heart swells...And I want to wrap my (barre:) arms around all of you to say thank you for making the BT community so loving and fun.  BT is a part of my soul, so I do not have enough words to express the amount of gratitude and love I have for this community.  Our future is uncertain after June 30th, but I will keep you informed.  And I welcome any conversations that I have not had the chance to do in person and of course apologize to everyone for a message and set of unfortunate circumstances such as this despite my efforts.  
No matter what happens, I have SOOO much #barrelove to all the barre Techs (Ashley, Anna, Bri, Briana, Christine, Cassandra, Erika, Shannon, Jenna, Sean) for their friendship and commitment to the BT community and methodology.  That love goes out to the work-study staff too (Corey, Emily, Laura, Sara, Marie, Stephanie, Ashton, and Alicia) for their wonderful presence and kindness to me and the BT community.  You are all so amazing and words cannot explain the gratitude and admiration I have for you righteous #barrebabes!  We are all sad, but please know that whatever happens, BT is very important to me and I’m fighting for HER.  
Keep a close eye on our schedule here> and book as many classes as you can because the person with the highest attendance by June 30th will win an awesome prize…(a gently used) mini iPad! BOOM- one last give away for hitting the barre hard at BT.  And if there is a tie, we will have a good old fashioned plank-off, for the longest to hold shall win this major award:)

November 11-13th was a success at the studio!  Thank you to all for taking our micro-challenge #22pushups to support our Veretans and active military men and women.  The BT Tribe raised $144 for Veterans.  Proceeds will go to the Catch A Lift Fund - an organization that pairs Vets with a personal trainers or gym memberships to stay healthy both mentally and physically.  And MUCH LOVE to long-time BT barre babe, Julia G for matching the funds ...bringing our total contribution to $248.

Barre is the perfect workout in my opinion.  Biased or not.  Why would I proclaim such?  After a decade of experience and hundreds comments from clients, I can tell you that a barre workout such as ours will tighten, tone, and lift the muscular structures of the body.  At the same time, you are laying a foundation for the future by building bone density, becoming better balanced, and working towards eccentric (lean) muscle.

Tell us a bit about yourself; how did you become a barre Tech.nician?

I absolutely love working out and trying new fitness classes. A couple of years ago, I heard of barre and knew I had to try a class. I danced all my life, and I always loved going to ballet classes.  I thought Ballet Barre would be a great class for me. Boy! Was I correct. I love the class, and after a couple of sessions, I knew I wanted to teach and help spread my love of barre. I heard about Barre Tech having auditions and knew I had to try out. I was so excited when I became a teacher. I love how at this studio we can really add our own flavor to the class. I'm always excited each week to come up with a new playlist and challenging routines for my barre babes :).

Barre babes are busy- juggling kids, careers, and class and we're always looking for ways to shave off a few minutes. That's why we love clothes that transition quickly from work to workout. One of our favorite tricks? Leggings underneath a skirt, which is why we love these Lucy Leggings.  They have just a hint of black and white around the bottom, but when you slide your skirt off...voila! Throw a top on, and you're good to go!
Another trick? Cute workout top under our suits. Jacket off, leggings on and you're ready for class. This top from Spiritual Gangster  works perfectly. And if your workplace is more formal, try these 
Athleta's tapered pants with a jacket and heels, and you have a fashionable outfit that transitions seamlessly from the street to the studio!

Why does cold winter air zap the moisture from our skin?  Because cold air naturally has lower humidity.  Hence, to keep our skin looking soft, smooth, and hydrated this winter as the polar vortex moves south, we need to exfoliate, hydrate, and moisturize.  Knowing the ingredients that promote hydration can help us pick the right products that tackle dry winter skin.

This healthy Thanksgiving side dish is packed with nutrient-dense ingredients like pomegranate seeds and spices like cumin and paprika--all shown to exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral qualities. If you can find them, colorful heirloom carrots (think purple, yellow, and shades of orange) will make this dish that much more festive and colorful.
